Lumina Summer Camp

Lumina Summer Camp

It was a blast!

The very first Lumina summer camp took place from July 7 through July 12.

Collaboration

After months of preparation, the children were ready early in the morning on July 7. The camp was organized in collaboration with a local church in Codlea, which was incredibly helpful by providing their teenagers as volunteers for the activities. They also did the grocery shopping, and every day a group of women was on hand to prepare delicious meals.

Activities

It turned out to be a great week! Every day started with a short, practical Bible story, learning a “verse of the day,” and lots of singing!

After that, the children split up into small groups for all kinds of activities, such as making crowns and playing lots of water games. Since it was a rainy day, indoor activities were organized. The day ended with a group activity, ranging from a talent show to a quiz and arts and crafts.

On the last evening, the winning team was announced, all the children received their first Lumina summer camp certificate, and the camp wrapped up with a campfire!

Valuable

The children had a wonderful time. It was a rewarding and successful week!

It was sad to see that some children didn’t want to go home because the atmosphere was so pleasant, or that a few children came back alone without their parents waiting for them. This touched us deeply and gives us even more motivation to continue our work.

On our Instagram page, you’ll find a short video about the summer camp.
