Community Center Lumina – Nord
The second community center is located in the ‘Nord’ neighborhood, on the other side of the city of Codlea. Economically and socially, this is a more affluent neighborhood than Colorom. We notice that the involvement of mothers here is greater and that adults generally seem more developed. Nonetheless, there is also a significant need for extra attention to social-emotional and spiritual education in this neighborhood. Many children are often alone, hanging out outside, receiving little attention at school, and largely having to fend for themselves.
Program
Children
At Lumina Nord, the kids’ club has two age groups. Here, too, homework help is part of the daily schedule. The quality of education leaves much to be desired, and we see many children falling behind. This allows us to provide them with extra support as they develop.
Since there are two age groups here, the children can attend three times a week, with one day focused on Bible education, one day on creativity, and one day on additional education.
This community center has been open since November 1, 2024, and we are grateful for its growth. Andreea has been working at the Lumina community center since September 15, which means both locations are now open 5 days a week.
Youth
The youth group started on November 7, 2024, and needs time to grow. In the initial phase, the focus is primarily on building relationships and trust with the teenagers. We achieve this by creating a homely and inviting atmosphere, where personal attention is central. Meanwhile, games are played, including a game of darts.
Expanding
We are actively working to expand our network to connect with enthusiastic and motivated volunteers who can support us. This will allow us to further expand the activities in the community centers.
