Enthusiastic Youth Group at Lumina
Community center Lumina is a second home for children and youth in Codlea. “Lumina” means “light” in Romanian, which resonates with Jesus’ mission to be a light and shine. Our goal is to share the Christian gospel, and we do this through enjoyable and educational activities for both children and youth.
Every Friday evening, there is a youth group at community center Lumina. When we started in January, the focus was primarily on building trust and relationships in the neighborhood. The evenings often began with a game, after which spontaneous conversations arose on various topics. Bible study has since been added to this. The aim of the youth group is to show them who Jesus is and why they need Him. We want to introduce them to the Christian gospel and help them delve deeper into it.
It felt like an exciting step, as we didn’t know how the youth would respond. Now, several months later, we look back with gratitude on the positive developments. In addition to Cris, the evenings are also supported by Mihai and Teo, two 18-year-old boys who recently came to faith. With passion and enthusiasm, they prepare the evenings, which is infectious for the youth.
In addition to Bible study, there is space for music and discussions, and the evenings end with a group game or a match of table tennis. Of course, we also provide tasty snacks and drinks, aiming to create a homely, safe, and comfortable atmosphere.
It is encouraging to see that young people from the neighborhood want to engage in reaching and inspiring their peers.
