Second community center Lumina

It has now been nine months since community center Lumina opened in the Colorom neighborhood. We look back on this period with gratitude and joy. The enthusiasm of the children and youth has exceeded our expectations, especially as the children’s club grows week by week. Now we are opening a second community center Lumina on the other side of the city of Codlea.

Codlea is a city with approximately 17,000 inhabitants. Community center Lumina is currently located in the Colorom neighborhood, and most children and youth live nearby. It is important for them to be able to walk to Lumina; some come by bike.

Codlea is much bigger than just the Colorom neighborhood, which is why we wanted to open a second community center on the north side of the city. You can read more about community center Lumina here.

“Coincidentally,” a beautiful building came up for rent. We went to take a look and met a very friendly and accommodating landlord. He was enthusiastic about the concept and the plans and even offered to lower the rent.

He is currently working hard to prepare everything, and by mid-November, we will start the activities here.

Initially, we will launch the children’s club on Thursdays and Fridays and the teens on Thursday evenings. This way, Tania can combine it with the other community center. If it proves successful, we will consider expanding the activities.

We are looking forward to it and are especially encouraged by the following situation:

A brother and sister, aged 8 and 9, heard about community center Lumina at school. They became excited and took the bus from their home to Lumina. Tania asked them where they were from, and it turned out to be the Nord neighborhood. When she told them that a community center would also be coming there, they beamed from ear to ear. They were determined to tell their friends about the opening of community center Lumina in their neighborhood.
